April 17, 2025 | Tobacco Valley Animal Shelter
When Tobacco Valley Animal Shelter launched its 2025 Dream Property Raffle to raise funds for their no-kill shelter in Eureka, Montana, they expected to garner some attention. What they didn’t expect was a wave of compassion and community engagement so strong that it would completely empty their kennels—and then fill them again with pets saved from a high-kill shelter nearly 1,400 miles away.
Thanks to widespread media coverage and community sharing, the shelter quickly saw a dramatic increase in adoptions. Every single animal currently housed at the Eureka facility found a forever home. This incredible momentum opened the door for a powerful next step: rescuing more animals in desperate need.
Enter Dog Is My Copilot, a nonprofit organization that transports animals from overcrowded, high-risk shelters to facilities with space and adoption demand. Working in collaboration with various local shelters, Dog Is My Copilot helped fly 61 pets from a high-kill shelter in Abilene, Texas to the newly available spaces in Eureka and other shelters in the area.
“The raffle publicity has created such a demand that Tobacco Valley Animal Shelter has had all of their animals adopted,” said the property owner who donated the 32-acre land for the raffle. “With the aid of Dog Is My Copilot, this raffle has allowed us to fly 61 pets from a high-kill shelter to a second chance at life.”
This ripple effect is exactly what the raffle was meant to inspire: not just fundraising, but awareness, action, and real-life impact for vulnerable animals. As the raffle continues to draw attention across the country, it’s clear that the campaign’s value goes far beyond the grand prize—it’s transforming lives, one adoption at a time.
