About Thompson River Animal Care Shelter (TRACS)

Located in the heart of Thompson Falls, Montana, TRACS is a nonprofit animal shelter devoted to protecting and improving the lives of pets across Western Montana and beyond. We provide safe shelter, medical care, and a second chance for lost, homeless, and abused animals until they find their forever homes.

Our Mission

Since our founding, our mission has been simple: to save, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need. Every pet that enters our care receives compassion, veterinary attention, and a promise of safety. We proudly maintain one of Montana’s most trusted adoption programs, connecting thousands of animals to loving families through our shelter and partner networks.

Supporting Our Mission

TRACS operates solely through donations, community support, and creative fundraising efforts. One of our most exciting initiatives is the Dream Property 50/50 Raffle — a life-changing fundraiser that gives you the chance to win big while helping animals in need. Half of the jackpot goes directly to the lucky winner, and the other half supports TRACS programs, including shelter operations, facility improvements, and veterinary care.

Every ticket purchased helps us move closer to our mission of saving more animals, upgrading our shelter, and expanding our ability to take in pets from overcrowded or high-risk environments.
